Our party of seven first-time visitors to South Africa was privileged to have the expert help of Julie from Khaki Fever Safaris to craft our first ever safari in Africa. Julie ensured we had a most memorable and enjoyable experience of the African bush which we could easily have missed out on – including full day Kruger safaris with a very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, experienced guide. We saw many different species including the big 5 at close range in the most beautiful settings imaginable. Our lodge was superb with everything we could want, and with it’s own range of “plains game” which greeted us on arrival – a most wonderful introduction to our African stay. Our trip also included a Panorama Route Tour with the Magnificent Blyde River Canyon.  Many thanks Julie for organising a perfect trip in every way which totally exceeded our expectations!

Julie and the team at Khaki Fever Safaris did the most fantastic job of organising a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me and my friends when we visited South Africa. Julie understood our brief completely, and provided a great selection of offerings, tailored to our group and was very prompt at getting back to us with any questions we had. The option we chose was absolutely perfect – beautiful accommodation in a tranquil setting surrounded by so many gorgeous animals, delicious meals, fantastic drivers and guides and wonderful day trips to Kruger National Park and surrounding areas. Right from the moment we arrived in South Africa, we felt so welcome – from a handwritten note and gorgeous stainless steel drink bottle gift from Julie and the team, to her checking in along the way to make sure we were having a wonderful time. Thanks so much again – we can’t wait to come back again one day!

Mobile safaris are the epitome of “glamping”, and are an excellent way to see (and stay in) many different locations in a truly immersive way. A mobile safari means that your camp moves around with you to different bush locations, and between each campsite you will be doing game drives through different environments, seeing varied wildlife and scenery.

Typically, you’ll spend 2 or 3 nights in each camp, before moving to the next location. The beauty of a mobile safari is that when you arrive at your camp it is already set up for you with crisp linen on your bed, a traditional (amazing!) hot bucket-shower is on hand, and a roaring camp fire is waiting for you!

Some of the fantastic destinations you can explore on a mobile safari include Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve, The Okavango Delta’s Khwai concession, SavutiChobe, Nxai Pan, and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

We’ll tailor-make the perfect mobile safari adventure for you, or for your whole family! A shorter mobile safari at the start, middle, or end of your traditional lodge safari is a fantastic way to include a bit of adventure and “immersion” into your safari, and if you’re travelling solo, joining a mobile safari with a scheduled departure is a fantastic way to enjoy your African adventure with like-minded travellers.

There are many fantastic mobile safari routes in Botswana, which can vary from high-end luxury to simple luxury. You can also choose between joining a scheduled departure (with other people) or having your own private mobile safari, both of which are unforgettable ways to see the bush! There is no electricity on mobile safaris, but mobile phones, cameras and other devices can be charged on the safari vehicles.

Take a look at our selection of trips on offer for 2018 and 2019. These are set itineraries with set departures, so rates are available. If you don’t see an itinerary you like, then contact us and we’ll put something together especially for you!

Luxury Adventure Mobile Safaris

This luxury adventure mobile safari is conducted in a private concession in the Western Okavango Delta, a truly wild and authentic safari experience. This region has a mix of swamp and dry islands with very few roads and is a fantastic area for walking safaris and mekoro trails where you will not see one other person (besides your friends). The intimacy and privacy of this safari experience is a rare opportunity to experience a true African wilderness.

Highlights include walking in this extremely wild region, “glamping” in a superbly comfortable mobile camp, visiting the important archaeological site of Tsodilo Hills via helicopter and staking out an elephant waterhole in the safety of a purpose-build hide while herds drink all around you. Food quality is exceptional, and the staff are professional and highly experienced, offering a laid-back and authentic 6-star safari experience that few travellers will ever have the privilege of enjoying.
