ZIMBABWE
HIGHLIGHTS

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

Our party of seven first-time visitors to South Africa was privileged to have the expert help of Julie from Khaki Fever Safaris to craft our first ever safari in Africa. Julie ensured we had a most memorable and enjoyable experience of the African bush which we could easily have missed out on – including full day Kruger safaris with a very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, experienced guide. We saw many different species including the big 5 at close range in the most beautiful settings imaginable. Our lodge was superb with everything we could want, and with it’s own range of “plains game” which greeted us on arrival – a most wonderful introduction to our African stay. Our trip also included a Panorama Route Tour with the Magnificent Blyde River Canyon.  Many thanks Julie for organising a perfect trip in every way which totally exceeded our expectations!

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

Julie and the team at Khaki Fever Safaris did the most fantastic job of organising a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me and my friends when we visited South Africa. Julie understood our brief completely, and provided a great selection of offerings, tailored to our group and was very prompt at getting back to us with any questions we had. The option we chose was absolutely perfect – beautiful accommodation in a tranquil setting surrounded by so many gorgeous animals, delicious meals, fantastic drivers and guides and wonderful day trips to Kruger National Park and surrounding areas. Right from the moment we arrived in South Africa, we felt so welcome – from a handwritten note and gorgeous stainless steel drink bottle gift from Julie and the team, to her checking in along the way to make sure we were having a wonderful time. Thanks so much again – we can’t wait to come back again one day!

8 DAYS

Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe has so much on offer that it’s difficult to squeeze any visit into just 8 days! So, this itinerary is a whirlwind trip designed to show you just some of the highlights this magnificent country has to be proud of. You’ll have a busy, adventurous, and fun-filled few days in Victoria Falls, followed by a world-class safari experience in Hwange National Park – here you can spot the Big 5, enjoy views of the wide-open grassy plains, or just catch up with yourself beside the swimming pool. Then, we’ve saved the best for last – a trip to Mana Pools National Park is not to be missed. Walk through towering forests and come face-to-face with big game; or canoe along the Zambezi River for the ultimate, and most authentic, African safari experience.

Mana Pools is a seasonal destination and is closed during the rainy season between December – March. For travel during this time we will replace Mana Pools with an alternative (and equally magnificent) destination. This is a fantastic trip for families with children or for a group of friends. It’s interactive, fun, and adventurous – not to be missed if you’re a true lover of the outdoors and nature!

This is simply an example itinerary that can be tweaked and changed to suit your needs. This is also why we don’t put prices on our itineraries – we specialize in tailor-making our trips for each individual client. If you like the sound of this itinerary, then send us a direct email enquiry, or fill out the detailed enquiry form below.

TIP

This itinerary is especially for travellers who are strapped for time, but if you can, we highly recommend making this exact itinerary longer so that you have enough time to firstly, fully absorb the magnificence of each destination, and secondly, have time to unwind and relax!

You’ll stay just outside Victoria Falls town, or on the Zambian side of the Falls, for a quieter experience of the Falls – away from the crowds! Here you’ll be just 30 minutes away from the adventure activities at the Falls; but will be able to enjoy the peace and tranquility found up-river. Remember! It’s always cheaper to travel to Zimbabwe in the “off-season” between December and May. There are fewer tourists and the wildlife viewing is still great.

THE DETAILS

8 Days (excluding final travel day)

DAY 1-2: Victoria Falls

Catch your direct flight from Johannesburg or Cape Town to Victoria Falls. Check into your intimate bush camp or lodge, set in the peaceful Victoria Falls wilderness. Over the next two days, you choose which adventures fill your time! Visit the magnificent Falls and beautiful surrounding forest with your private guide. Try out white-water rafting or bungee jumping, or take a microlight flight over the Falls – highly recommended! Go on a sunset “booze” cruise on the mighty Zambezi River, and enjoy magenta sunsets while honking hippos provide the background chorus.

If you’re feeling active, do a half or full-day canoe trip up the Zambezi River and spot elephants drinking and swimming in the river, not to mention seeing phenomenal birdlife. There is a lot to do in “Vic Falls”, and we will be able to help you best plan your time here, according to how busy or relaxed you want it to be.

DAY 3-5: Hwange National Park

Your flight to Hwange is short and sweet and you’ll be staying in a luxury, authentic bush camp either directly inside the park, or on the border, depending on your preference. Sleep under canvas and hear lions roar and hyenas howl. See Hwange’s famous elephant herds and Cape buffalo in their hundreds.

Activities on safari include daily game drives and bush walks; or stay in your peaceful camp and catch up on some reading and relaxing.

DAY 6-8: Mana Pools National Park

After your morning game drive, you’ll catch your flight to Mana Pools via light aircraft. Settle into your intimate bush camp, either on the Zambezi riverfront, or in the “bush”, depending on your preference.

For the next two days connect with nature on a deeper level. Become a part of your environment and let your expert guide get you within a few feet of elephants, lions, wild dogs, hippos, and more on this truly wild safari experience. Or try a canoe trip along the peaceful Zambezi riverfront. Enjoy this pristine and remote wilderness, which few people are lucky enough to visit.

DAY 9: Victoria Falls Airport, Depart

Catch a light-aircraft flight back to Victoria Falls for your flight home; or extend your vacation to include Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, or even a tropical island in Mozambique!
