NORTHERN GEMS
12 DAYS
Botswana
Northern Botswana is a hotspot of incredible game viewing, diverse habitats, and pristine wilderness. This is Botswana’s best-loved and most popular safari region – from the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta, and the wildlife-rich Linyanti, to the predator-playground that is Savuti, and the mighty Chobe River with its hundreds of elephants – this is a Botswana adventure you will never forget!
Enjoy game drives through beautiful forest and wetland habitats in the Moremi Game Reserve, go on a walking safari or mekoro ride and spot wild dogs in the Linyanti, get close to lions and hyenas in the dry, action-packed Savuti; and enjoy sunset boat cruises while watching elephants play in the Chobe River – these are just some of the highlights as you travel through Botswana’s northern “gems”.
This is simply an example itinerary that can be tweaked and changed to suit your needs. This is also why we don’t put prices on our itineraries – we specialize in tailor-making our trips for each individual client. If you like the sound of this itinerary, then send us a direct email enquiry, or fill out the detailed enquiry form below.
TIP
The Moremi Game Reserve is a fantastic destination with a mix of water and land-based activities on offer, but it can get quite busy with tourists. If you’d like to stay elsewhere in the Okavango Delta, the Khwai Concession or in the northern Okavango for this leg of the trip, then we can easily tweak this itinerary to suit you.
We can include any type of “activity” into this itinerary – especially in the Okavango Delta and in Chobe. So, if you want to do a walking safari, horseback safari or canoe trip, let us know!

THE DETAILS
12 Days (excluding final travel day)
DAY 1-3: Moremi Game Reserve
Stay in a luxury lodge in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, where swamps, woodlands, and beautiful floodplains surround you. Moremi is a hotspot for leopards, lions, buffalo, elephants, hippos and exquisite scenery. Enjoy daily game drives, sunset drinks, boat and mekoro rides, or just enjoy the abundant wildlife around you. Alternatively, choose to stay elsewhere in the Okavango Delta, depending on your budget or activity preference.
DAY 4-6: Linyanti
After your morning game drive, take the short light-aircraft flight to the Linyanti. This extraordinary wilderness is home to rare roan and sable antelope, wild dogs and abundant bird life. Settle into your luxury bush camp, and over the next three days enjoy game drives, mekoro rides, and beautiful views over the floodplains and the Linyanti River. This is a truly peaceful and remote part of northern Botswana, far away from the (sometimes) busy Moremi Game Reserve.
DAY 7-9: Savuti
After your morning game drive or mekoro trip, take the scenic drive from the Linyanti to Savuti, through the Chobe National Park. Savuti is a unique landscape, dominated by a seasonal channel and marsh. A lot drier than the Okavango and Linyanti, Savuti offers an entirely different wildlife experience. With less green vegetation, spotting animals is far easier here. This area is well-known for its predators, and large prides of lions and clans of spotted hyenas are common sightings! Also watch elephants playing in the muddy waterholes around your camp, or enjoy the remote peace and quiet from the privacy of your room’s deck.
DAY 10-12: Chobe National Park
The wide Chobe River with its exciting wildlife-packed waterfront is the final gem in your adventure through northern Botswana. Settle into your luxury lodge inside the park, or stay closer to Kasane for a small-town buzz. Enjoy exciting boat trips up the Chobe River, and game drives through the park. Sunset drinks overlooking the majestic river are an absolute highlight.
During the dry season (June – October) see herds of hundreds of elephants drinking and playing in the water, as well as waterbuck, buffalo, crocodiles, lions and enormous pods of hippos. Chobe is a popular tourist destination, but the unique and exciting safari experience is not to be missed on any visit to northern Botswana!
DAY 13: Kasane Airport, Depart
Return to Kasane for your flight home or extend your vacation to include other areas of Botswana (the Kalahari Desert or the Makgadikgadi Pans) or, depending on your available time, include Zimbabwe, or Zambia!
