Our party of seven first-time visitors to South Africa was privileged to have the expert help of Julie from Khaki Fever Safaris to craft our first ever safari in Africa. Julie ensured we had a most memorable and enjoyable experience of the African bush which we could easily have missed out on – including full day Kruger safaris with a very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, experienced guide. We saw many different species including the big 5 at close range in the most beautiful settings imaginable. Our lodge was superb with everything we could want, and with it’s own range of “plains game” which greeted us on arrival – a most wonderful introduction to our African stay. Our trip also included a Panorama Route Tour with the Magnificent Blyde River Canyon.  Many thanks Julie for organising a perfect trip in every way which totally exceeded our expectations!

Julie and the team at Khaki Fever Safaris did the most fantastic job of organising a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me and my friends when we visited South Africa. Julie understood our brief completely, and provided a great selection of offerings, tailored to our group and was very prompt at getting back to us with any questions we had. The option we chose was absolutely perfect – beautiful accommodation in a tranquil setting surrounded by so many gorgeous animals, delicious meals, fantastic drivers and guides and wonderful day trips to Kruger National Park and surrounding areas. Right from the moment we arrived in South Africa, we felt so welcome – from a handwritten note and gorgeous stainless steel drink bottle gift from Julie and the team, to her checking in along the way to make sure we were having a wonderful time. Thanks so much again – we can’t wait to come back again one day!

South Africa

If you’re strapped for time but want to squeeze in South Africa’s two most remarkable destinations, then this itinerary is for you! Cape Town has so much on offer, you’ll struggle to leave after just 5 days! Explore the city and its amazing beaches, mountains, restaurants and sights before heading to Kruger National Park for some much-needed R&R.

In Kruger, you will have the most exceptional safari experience, full of great game viewing and authentic, raw nature. Get close to elephants, lions, zebra and leopards, and enjoy sunset drinks around a roaring camp fire. There really is nothing better!

This is simply an example itinerary that can be tweaked and changed to suit your needs. This is also why we don’t put prices on our itineraries – we specialize in tailor-making our trips for each individual client. If you like the sound of this itinerary, then send us a direct email enquiry, or fill out the detailed enquiry form below.

A 10-day trip of South Africa means there’s a lot to pack in (especially in Cape Town)! Although we don’t believe in rushing our guests through a country (and are against simply “ticking off” destinations), we do appreciate that many travelers don’t have the time to do a country justice. This is your trip, and you can choose how busy you want it to be. We recommend doing fewer things, properly, so that you don’t need a holiday after your holiday! That’s why we put Cape Town before Kruger – Kruger will allow you more down time to relax and enjoy the peace, before heading home.

Views from Chapman’s Peak Drive.

Seafood lunch in Hout Bay.

Hiking up Lion’s Head.

Seeing the Big 5 from an open safari vehicle.

Enjoying a magenta sunset with a cold beer.

Listening to the night-time sounds of lions roaring and hyenas howling.

10 Days (excluding final travel day)

DAY 1-5: Cape Town

Spend five nights in the vibrant, exciting city of Cape Town. Enjoy a full-day Peninsula tour with an expert guide: visit small seaside towns, Africa’s only penguins at Boulder’s Beach, see Cape Point, and stop off for a fantastic seafood lunch in Hout Bay. Your private guide will take you on a full-day sensory adventure into the beautiful Cape winelands. He’ll tailor-make your day according to what wines you’re interested in tasting. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a spectacular wine farm en route. Over the 5 days, you will have time to relax and enjoy Cape Town as you wish.

DAY 6-7: Private Game Reserve, Greater Kruger

Today you’ll catch your flight from Cape Town to Hoedspruit – the gateway to Greater Kruger National Park! A private transfer will collect you (or drive yourself) and transport you to your lodge in a private game reserve within the Greater Kruger National Park. You’ll spend 2 nights in this spectacular private reserve – a hotspot for the “Big 5”.

Activities include daily game drives and bush walks or stay in your peaceful bush camp or lodge and listen to the chorus of birds while you relax with your book.

DAY 8-10: Kruger National Park

After your morning game drive, you will travel to another exquisite bush camp or lodge inside the Kruger National Park. Alternatively, (depending on your accommodation preference) continue your stay in one of the Greater Kruger’s private reserves and do a full day-trip into the park. You’ll spend 3 nights in the infamous Kruger National Park – one of the most biodiverse places on Earth! See the many different habitats and animals that make Kruger so exceptional. Activities include game drives and bush walks, or simply look out for elephants and various antelope visiting the camp.

DAY 11: O.R. Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg

After your morning game drive, you’ll travel to the closest airport for your flight to Johannesburg, before heading home, or extend your trip and visit Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia, or Mozambique!
