ESSENTIAL BUSH & BEACH

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

Our party of seven first-time visitors to South Africa was privileged to have the expert help of Julie from Khaki Fever Safaris to craft our first ever safari in Africa. Julie ensured we had a most memorable and enjoyable experience of the African bush which we could easily have missed out on – including full day Kruger safaris with a very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, experienced guide. We saw many different species including the big 5 at close range in the most beautiful settings imaginable. Our lodge was superb with everything we could want, and with it’s own range of “plains game” which greeted us on arrival – a most wonderful introduction to our African stay. Our trip also included a Panorama Route Tour with the Magnificent Blyde River Canyon.  Many thanks Julie for organising a perfect trip in every way which totally exceeded our expectations!

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

Julie and the team at Khaki Fever Safaris did the most fantastic job of organising a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me and my friends when we visited South Africa. Julie understood our brief completely, and provided a great selection of offerings, tailored to our group and was very prompt at getting back to us with any questions we had. The option we chose was absolutely perfect – beautiful accommodation in a tranquil setting surrounded by so many gorgeous animals, delicious meals, fantastic drivers and guides and wonderful day trips to Kruger National Park and surrounding areas. Right from the moment we arrived in South Africa, we felt so welcome – from a handwritten note and gorgeous stainless steel drink bottle gift from Julie and the team, to her checking in along the way to make sure we were having a wonderful time. Thanks so much again – we can’t wait to come back again one day!

9 DAYS

South Africa

South Africa’s Kwa-Zulu Natal area offers the perfect “bush” & “beach” adventure in the space of just a couple hundred miles! This is the ideal destination for long lazy days on deserted beaches, and excellent safari sightings in Phinda Game Reserve. The laid-back holiday feel of “Natal” forces you to feel relaxed, while providing a great backdrop to an easy-going holiday that’s still packed with adventure and unforgettable wildlife sightings. Kayak up pristine estuaries, search for hatching turtles under starlight, get up close and personal to the Big 5, and laze about on golden beaches while you soak up some rays.

This is simply an example itinerary that can be tweaked and changed to suit your needs. This is also why we don’t put prices on our itineraries – we specialize in tailor-making our trips for each individual client. If you like the sound of this itinerary, then send us a direct email enquiry, or fill out the detailed enquiry form below.

TIP

Kwa-Zulu Natal is an easy province to self-drive in, and there are many little towns, game reserves and sights to visit in-between the main destinations. If you’re hesitant about driving though, we can arrange safe and reliable transfers between the places you’d like to visit. Southern Mozambique is also a short drive from Kosi Bay, so if you want to see dolphins, whale sharks, or scuba dive in crystal blue waters, just let us know!

DAY 7-9 – Umhlanga

DAY 10 – King Shaka International Airport, Durban

THE DETAILS

9 Days (excluding final travel day)

Day 1-3: Kosi Bay

The wild coastline of Kosi Bay is sandwiched between dense coastal forest and big seas, and feels a world away from the rest of South Africa. Enjoy Kosi’s miles of pristine, deserted beaches, plunge into the Indian Ocean for some scuba diving or snorkelling; go deep-sea fishing, or explore the birdlife-rich estuaries by kayak. Watch sea turtles lay their eggs on the beach from November to February, or visit the remote and truly wild Tembe Elephant Park on a half or full-day adventure. This park is well off the tourist track, and is definitely worth a visit!

Day 4-6: Phinda Game Reserve

This private, luxury game reserve just 2 hours south of Kosi Bay is home to the Big 5 and a spectacular array of birdlife. Enjoy 3 nights in this exceptional reserve and keep your eyes out for cheetah, rhino, wild dog and lions! The sub-tropical climate here means the bush is green and lush and wildlife is abundant. Alternatively, stay in the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, a more affordable option for those traveling on a tighter budget.

Day 7-9: Umhlanga

End off your fantastic Bush & Beach adventure with a couple nights in the bustling, exciting beach resort town of Umhlanga. Try your hand at surfing, visit the many restaurants and bars, take a dip in the warm ocean, or simply soak up some sun on the golden beaches!

Day 10: King Shaka International Airport, Durban

After breakfast, prepare to head to the airport for your flight home, or extend your trip and visit Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia, or Mozambique!
