EAST COAST EASE
14 DAYS
South Africa | Swaziland
The eastern part of South Africa is a hotspot for any nature-loving traveler! This region also enjoys a slower, calmer pace – compared to the Garden Route, there are fewer people, less development, and a more “raw” and natural feel. An ideal place to disconnect from your busy life and just relax. Visit diverse ecosystems (and cultures), and find yourself in true adventure mode as you experience the safari of a lifetime in Kruger, explore new cultures and crafts in Swaziland, unwind on remote beaches in Kosi Bay, and visit the lush, sub-tropical private reserve of Phinda, where you might be luckily enough to see cheetah and the critically endangered black rhino.
This is simply an example itinerary that can be tweaked and changed to suit your needs. This is also why we don’t put prices on our itineraries – we specialize in tailor-making our trips for each individual client. If you like the sound of this itinerary, then send us a direct email enquiry, or fill out the detailed enquiry form below.
TIP
Going on safari means early mornings (this is when the animals are most active), so although you may struggle to get out of bed at 5:30am, it really is worth it! Besides, we’ve designed this itinerary in a way that you get some time to rest and sleep-in in the middle of your trip (Kosi Bay), before your next safari adventure in Phinda! So, don’t lose too much sleep over the early morning starts when in Kruger.

THE DETAILS
15 days (including final travel day)
Day 1-4: Greater Kruger National Park
After your flight lands in Hoedspruit – the gateway to the Kruger National Park – you will be transferred to your exquisite bush camp or lodge inside the park. You’ll spend 4 nights in the famous Kruger – one of the most beautiful and biodiverse places on Earth! See the many different habitats and animals (including the Big 5) that make Kruger so exceptional. Activities include game drives and bush walks, or simply look out for elephants and various antelope visiting your camp.
Day 5-6: Swaziland
Travel into the tiny Kingdom that is Swaziland. You’ll immediately notice that you’re in a different country. Spend a night soaking up some history and culture in a beautiful, colonial stone home that’s over 100 years old. This boutique guest house is nestled in an indigenous forest in a small nature reserve, and it’s where Swaziland’s conservation efforts were born. Travel through the arty region of Malkerns – visit craft shops selling locally made decorative candles, basket ware and batik work.
Arrive at one of Swaziland’s most beautiful parks in in the afternoon, famous for its thriving rhino population. Here you’ll stay in 4-star luxury where open-walled rooms expose you to the pristine forest around you. Enjoy a truly unique experience – go on a cycle safari with your expert guide and get close to rhinos, giraffe and antelope! Spend the evening around the “bush TV” – a roaring camp fire, and enjoy a delicious, traditional dinner.
Day 7-9: Kosi Bay
Travel back into South Africa to the remote and undeveloped area of Kosi Bay in northern Kwa-Zulu Natal. This wild coastline is sandwiched between dense coastal forest and big seas; and feels a world away from the rest of South Africa. Take some time out from the safari scene on Kosi’s kilometers of pristine, deserted beach, or plunge into the Indian Ocean for some scuba diving or snorkeling. Enjoy the peace and quiet of the indigenous forests around you; or explore the bird-rich estuary by kayak.
Day 10-12: Phinda Game Reserve
This private, luxury game reserve just 2 hours south of Kosi Bay is home to the Big 5 and a spectacular array of birdlife. The sub-tropical climate gives it a whole different look and feel to the Kruger. Enjoy 3 nights in this exceptional reserve and keep your eyes open for cheetah, rhino, wild dog and lions! Alternatively, stay in the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, a more affordable option for those traveling on a tighter budget.
Day 13-14: Umhlanga
End your fantastic safari off with a couple nights in the bustling, exciting beach resort town of Umhlanga. Soak up some sun on the golden beaches, try your hand at surfing, or enjoy the many restaurants and the holiday vibe.
Day 15: King Shaka International Airport, Durban
After breakfast, prepare to head to the airport for your flight home, or extend your trip and visit Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia, or Mozambique!
