BIT OF BOTH
9 DAYS
Botswana | Zimbabwe
Botswana and Zimbabwe are arguably the two most visited safari destinations in Africa, and the best part about these two countries, is that their safari “hotspots” are relatively close together, meaning you don’t have to choose between Zimbabwe and Botswana when planning your safari, you can visit both of them!
Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park and Chobe National Park offer some of the most spectacular game-viewing, dramatic scenery and unforgettable safari experiences on the continent. From the magnificent Victoria Falls and the adventure activities on offer there, to the excellent Big-5 experience and luxury bush camps of Hwange National Park, and the wildlife-rich riverfront of Chobe, this is the most phenomenal adventure for anyone strapped for time, or only interested in the highlights of this region.
This is simply an example itinerary that can be tweaked and changed to suit your needs. This is also why we don’t put prices on our itineraries – we specialize in tailor-making our trips for each individual client. If you like the sound of this itinerary, then send us a direct email enquiry, or fill out the detailed enquiry form below.
TIP
These three locations are among the most popular tourist destinations in the region, so they can get very busy and feel overly commercial at times. At Khaki Fever, we strive to take our guests “off the tourist track” while making sure they still see the “hotspots”. Smaller, and more private lodges and boutique bush lodges outside the busy areas, away from the crowds is our preference, what’s yours?
Stay just outside Vic Falls town, or on the Zambian side of the Falls, for a quieter experience of the Falls – away from the crowds! Here you’ll be just 30 minutes away from the adventure activities at the Falls, but still have the peace and tranquility found further up the Zambezi River.

THE DETAILS
9 days (excluding final travel day)
DAY 1-3: Victoria Falls
Check into your luxury bush camp or lodge set in the peaceful Victoria Falls wilderness. Over the next two days, choose which adventures fill your time! Visit the magnificent Falls and beautiful surrounding forest with your private guide. Try out white-water rafting or bungee jumping, or take a microlight flight over the Falls – highly recommended! Go on a sunset “booze” cruise on the mighty Zambezi River and see elephants drinking while hippos honk loudly.
If you’re feeling active do a half or full-day canoe trip up the Zambezi River and spot elephants drinking and swimming in the river, not to mention seeing phenomenal birdlife. There is a lot to do in “Vic Falls”, and you will be able to choose how busy or relaxed your time here is.
DAY 4-6: Hwange National Park
Your flight to Hwange is short and sweet and you’ll be staying in a luxury authentic bush camp either directly inside the park, or on the border, depending on your choice. Sleep under canvas and hear lions roar and hyenas howl. See Hwange’s famous elephant herds and Cape buffalo in their hundreds. At some camps elephants will come right up to the camp to drink out of the swimming pools!
Activities include daily game drives and bush walks; or stay in your peaceful camp and catch up on some reading and relaxing, while enjoying views of the grassy plains or active watering hole.
DAY 7-9: Chobe National Park
It’s a short road transfer through the border to Kasane town in Botswana. Settle into your luxury lodge inside the Chobe National Park; or stay closer to Kasane for a small-town buzz. Enjoy unforgettable boat trips up the river and game drives through the Park. Sunset drinks overlooking the majestic river are a highlight. In the dry winter months (June – October) see herds of hundreds of elephants drinking and playing in the water, as well as waterbuck, buffalo, crocodiles, lions and enormous pods of hippos.
Chobe is a popular tourist destination, but the unique and exciting safari experience is not to be missed. Besides, we can easily help you escape the crowds by carefully selecting the location of your perfect bush camp or lodge.
DAY 10: Kasane Airport, Depart
Return to Kasane for your flight home, or extend your vacation to include more of Zimbabwe (Mana Pools National Park), Botswana (Okavango Delta, Kalahari Desert or Savuti), or even Zambia or South Africa!
