BEST OF BOTSWANA
12 DAYS
Botswana
Botswana is a huge, diverse country with many incredible places to see and experience – the most stressful part about planning a trip here is figuring out how to squeeze everything into one vacation! From the desert, to the delta, and from the rivers, to the exceptional wildlife, we’ve done all the hard work for you, to make sure you don’t miss a thing!
The vast plains of the Kalahari Desert offer a remote and truly “African” experience. Unique animals like oryx, bat-eared foxes and ground squirrels can be seen on daily game drives, while the Okavango Delta is an idyllic paradise of lush swamps and breathtaking beauty. Savuti is a predator’s playground where lions and hyenas are locked in a centuries-long battle over territory; and the slow pace of Chobe offers peace and tranquility, as well as some of the best elephant and hippo sightings in Africa.
This itinerary is guaranteed to blow you away. The sheer beauty and raw wilderness of these four diverse habitats is humbling and breathtaking. No matter if you choose to stay in luxury safari lodges or enjoy some “glamping” on a mobile safari, this will definitely be the safari of a lifetime!
This is simply an example itinerary that can be tweaked and changed to suit your needs. This is also why we don’t put prices on our itineraries – we specialize in tailor-making our trips for each individual client. If you like the sound of this itinerary, then send us a direct email enquiry, or fill out the detailed enquiry form below.
TIP
Remember that most itineraries for Botswana can be adapted into a “mobile safari”. Mobile safaris are a more time-efficient (and sometimes more affordable) way to see the best parts of Botswana in a fun and adventurous way, and they don’t compromise on comfort or experience!
We can include any type of “activity” into this itinerary – especially in the Okavango Delta and in Chobe. So, if you want to do a walking trail, horseback safari or canoe trip, let us know!

THE DETAILS
12 Days (excluding final travel day)
DAY 1-2: Kalahari Game Reserve
From the small frontier town of Maun, catch a light aircraft flight to your luxury safari camp that overlooks the vast plains of the Kalahari. Between game drives and bush walks, you’ll get a real sense of this dramatic and beautiful ecosystem encompassing vast grassy savannahs, thorn-tree thickets full of life, bright starry (and completely unpolluted) skies, and mesmerizing sunsets.
See the Kalahari’s “black-maned” lions, cheetahs hunting on the plains, bat-eared foxes, oryx, and a wealth of birdlife – wildlife you won’t see elsewhere on this trip! Depending on where you stay, you could visit traditional San “bushmen” and learn more about their fascinating culture.
DAY 3-6: Okavango Delta
After your morning game drive, take a short flight into the Okavango Delta – a world ruled by small waterways and water-loving wildlife. This oasis is bursting with life and beauty and will quite simply take your breath away. Stay in an authentic, luxury “bush camp” of your choice. Choose a “water-based” camp for quiet mokoro trips, or a “dry” camp for excellent Big 5 sightings and game drives. You can also choose to stay in a bush camp that focuses on walking safaris, horseback safaris, or fishing!
DAY 7-9: Savuti
Savuti is yet another unique landscape, dominated by a seasonal channel and marsh. A lot drier than the Okavango, and with less green vegetation, spotting animals is far easier here. Game drives are the most popular way to see Savuti, and your expert ranger will try his best to show you Savuti’s famous lions and hyenas. This is a predator paradise, and sightings of “the big cats” and hyenas are common. See elephants playing in the muddy waterholes, and enjoy the remote peace and quiet from the private deck of your luxury bush camp.
DAY 10-12: Chobe National Park
The Chobe River with its exciting wildlife-packed waterfront is the perfect place to end your epic Botswana adventure. The environment here is completely new and the experience is unique! Settle into your luxury lodge inside the park, or stay closer to Kasane for a small-town buzz. Enjoy unforgettable boat trips up the Chobe River, and game drives through the National Park.
Sunset drinks overlooking the majestic river are a highlight. In the dry season (June – October) see herds of hundreds of elephants drinking and playing in the water, as well as waterbuck, buffalo, crocodiles, lions and enormous pods of hippos. Chobe is a popular tourist destination, but this unique and exciting safari experience is not to be missed. Besides, we can easily help you escape the crowds by carefully selecting your perfect bush camp or lodge, away from the crowds.
