ITINERARY DETAILS

KEY: BLD in itinerary: B = breakfast included, L = Lunch included, D = Dinner included

DAY 1 | ARRIVE JOHANNESBURG D

Arrive in Johannesburg and make your way to your B&B where your private guide will meet you at 5 pm. Enjoy some festive drinks and snacks while your guide welcomes you with an overview of your exciting trip that lies ahead of you. Enjoy a traditional South African dinner of boerewors, pap, chakalaka and melk tert before relaxing into your first night on vacation!

 JOHANNESBURG – HOEDSPRUIT BLDBLD

Set off early and travel through South Africa’s beautiful countryside toward the Greater Kruger National Park. Navigate through breathtaking scenery on the Panorama Route which winds through the Blyde Canyon – the world’s third deepest canyon! Stop off at an open-air restaurant beside a picturesque river for lunch where you’ll enjoy South African meats barbequed on open flames – a traditional “braai”. You’ll arrive at your lodge in the late evening, set in a private nature reserve just outside the town of Hoedspruit. You may see monkeys, zebra, giraffe and warthogs on arrival. Settle in and enjoy a sunset drink overlooking the wild bush, followed by dinner around the camp fire with your hosts.

 DAY 3 | HOEDSPRUIT BLD

Wake up bright and early and enjoy a cup of coffee with a traditional “rusk” biscuit before embarking on a guided nature walk in the surrounding reserve. Discover all the small things from interesting plants and trees to peculiar bugs, this is an eye-opening experience. You may even come face-to-face with a giraffe or zebra! Spend the hottest part of the day around the pool, reading a book, or resting in the peaceful garden. As the afternoon cools, you’ll enjoy an open-air yoga class while you listen to the sounds of the bush all around you. Admire the views of the setting sun from a raised deck before another fantastic dinner in the boma, sitting around the camp fire you’ll share stories and hear tales of the area.

DAY 4 | HOEDSPRUIT – KRUGER NATIONAL PARK BLD

Pack your bags and embark on a full-day adventure of the Kruger National Park! From beautiful scenery and towering trees to colorful bird life and iconic animals at every turn, this is an unforgettable day that will leave you falling in love with Africa! Keep your eyes peeled for elephants, lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, zebras, rhinos and much, much more. By evening you’ll arrive at your gorgeous tented bush camp in the private Timbavati Reserve. Enjoy the peaceful evening sounds of the bush all around you as you watch the sun set with a drink in hand before a delicious three-course dinner under the African stars.

DAY 5+6 | timbavati game reserve BLD

You’ll be up before sunrise (remember this is the best time to see animals!) to embark on your morning game drive. The reserve is open to the Kruger National Park, so phenomenal wildlife is all around you – you just need to find it! Enjoy a cup of coffee in the wild, then return to the lodge for breakfast. Enjoy a relaxed day at the lodge – swim in the pool or spot animals at the camps’ watering hole. Later in the afternoon you’ll enjoy your second game drive. Keep your eyes peeled for animals you didn’t see in the morning! Return to the lodge for sunset drinks, chats around the fire, and another delicious dinner under the stars.

DAY 7 | HOEDSPRUIT – CAPE TOWN B

Enjoy your last game drive in Timbavati before packing up and heading to the airport for your flight to Cape Town. Arrive in the late afternoon, settle into your gorgeous boutique hotel at the foot of Table Mountain, and head out on the town for some sundowner drinks and dinner at one of the city’s world-class restaurants!

DAY 8 | CITY TOUR Bl

Enjoy a much-needed lie in and slow breakfast before heading off on an exciting city tour with your private guide. The tour ends off in the Bo-Kaap, Cape Town’s Cape Malay Quarter, where you’ll be treated to an authentic Cape Malay lunch in the comfort of one of the local residents’ homes. Spend the afternoon at leisure – stroll the streets, boutiques and cafes of Cape Town, visit the beaches, or head back to your hotel for some R&R at the in-house spa. Meet for evening sundowners and dinner.

DAY 9 | CHAPMAN’S PEAK & WINE TASTING Bl

Head off along the breathtaking Chapman’s Peak Drive that winds over mountains and past cliffs that drop into the Atlantic Ocean. Visit the African penguin colony at Boulder’s Beach and grab an ice cream or coffee in the charming seaside town of Kalk Bay. Enjoy lunch, wine tasting, and a lazy afternoon at the Cape’s oldest wine estate – Groot Constantia.

DAY 10 | LION’S HEAD HIKE Bd

It’s your last scheduled activity of the trip – an unforgettable hike up Lion’s Head. Meet with exquisite views and scenery on this 90-minute hike, one of Cape Town’s must-do activities. Spend the rest of your day exploring Cape Town and ticking off those last-minute to-dos and sights. Enjoy your last dinner with your guide at one of Cape Town’s best and most-loved restaurants.

DAY 11 | trip ends B

After your last breakfast, bid farewell to your guide, and prepare to check out of your rooms at 10 am. Bye-bye for now! We look forward to seeing you on your next KFS group trip!

Partially-guided Trip

The partially-guided trip is one night shorter than the standard trip so it is a little cheaper and you will only have a private guide for the trip’s scheduled activities in Cape Town. On safari, you will have the lodges’ in-house guides accompany you on game drives and other activities. You will not have the welcome dinner and get-together in Johannesburg on night 1 either.
