The Okavango Delta is the jewel in the crown that is Botswana. The Okavango River flows from Angola, through Namibia’s Caprivi Strip, and into Botswana. The river never reaches the ocean, but rather spreads its finger-like channels into the Kalahari Desert where their waters sink into the sandy earth. The Delta is a kaleidoscope of colour and life – from hundreds of bird species and crystal-clear waters lined with lily pads; to herds of reed-munching elephants and lions that have learnt to love water. A multitude of other big cats, wild dogs, hippos, and water-adapted antelope live in harmony in this spectacular oasis.

The Okavango Delta is comprised of many privately owned and run “concessions”, each with a different feel and wildlife experience on offer. Several luxurious bush camps and lodges pepper the Okavango Delta offering world-class hospitality and, in our opinion, an unmatched “true” wildlife experience without fences or human management.

The Khwai Concession is a “public” concession in the eastern Delta and borders the Moremi Game Reserve. This is an exquisite area with phenomenal year-round game viewing, and is a popular tourist destination. The Moremi Game Reserve is a pristine conservation area, home to an array of diverse habitats and exceptional animal and birdlife. Mobile safaris are very popular in both Khwai and the Moremi.

It’s very difficult to do the Okavango Delta justice in words, this truly is a unique wilderness, not to be missed!
